Insights

What led you to do the work you do?  The desire to my Sales VP experience to help my community – The Greater Sacramento Area. It was simply time to leave to leave the corporate world of significant travel and politics and focus on giving back to my own community

Describe your ideal client:    A business owner with $3m to $50m in annual revenues experiencing some or all of the following: Can’t get away from the business to enjoy other important parts of life. Declining or flat sales. High turnover is sales professionals. Needs to create an environment and structure to repeatable sales and growth. Wants more insight and visibility into a professional sales organization. Has significant growth plans and potential and needs a leader to execute in all areas of sales to accomplish that.

What situation or circumstances might lead a prospective client to your services? See above. Many small to medium sized business have never truly had access to an experienced and proven sales leader. It often doesn’t make financial sense for them to bring one on full-time.

What’s the best way for colleagues to refer prospective clients to you?   See a business owner, president, or CEO struggling with things that a true Sales Leader can solve for them.

How does a typical engagement begin? After an initial discussion and meeting, we discuss my deliverables to the business owner under a detailed Statement of Work “SOW”. Then it is determined whether that requires 1, 2, or 3 days a week of my time to execute on this SOW.

What services might a typical engagement include?    Analysis of sales team, hiring, firing, comp plan creation and alignment to desired outcomes, CRM configuration to truly help sales and executives, market analysis, targeting the right market, messaging, revenue projections, coaching, mentoring the next leader(s), etc.

What might you be doing if you hadn’t pursued this career?   Coaching youth sports and retired from the business world. But this aligns with my desire to give back and enhance my own community

What about your work gives you greatest satisfaction?    Watching a business owner get more time with his family. Watching the reduction of stress. Providing a clear direction and confidence in what was previously mysterious and erractic.

What might your colleagues be surprised to learn about you?    I paid my way through college as a carpenter. Played basketball competitively and enjoy the outdoors

What do you enjoy doing most when you’re not serving your clients?   Golfing, hiking, and most things outdoors like skiing, paddle boarding, etc
